Re-opening is here!
The time we have all been waiting for is here – The Grand Canyon is re-opening!
Of course, the re-opening will be in phases, so we want to give you an idea of what to expect. On June 5, the South Rim Entrance will resume normal hours of operation. Hiking trails and some commercial services will be available, but rafting trips will be on hold until mid-June.
While this is taking place, everyone is encouraged to continue to social distance and wash your hands throughout your trip. It is easy to see why the Grand Canyon is the perfect place for social distancing, as you can roam trails and explore the outdoors, while getting fresh air in the great outdoors. The Grand Canyon began re-opening with limited hours earlier in May, which was when many locals came to escape quarantine and be more active!
The North Rim will also be re-opening, but keep in mind that campgrounds are closed due to construction. If you’re planning to visit in the next few weeks, know that there is currently a Stage 2 Fire Restriction in place for the South Rim to protect everyone around you!
If you’re looking for specific businesses that are open, visit the Grand Canyon National Park website for all of their updates! Many local restaurants and stores have also started the process of re-opening. The state orders are being followed, so indoor and outdoor seating will vary from their usual routine.
While planning your trip, we recommend followed the Grand Canyon National Park’s Facebook page, where they are providing daily news every morning!
We look forward to welcoming everyone back and helping you plan the vacation you’ve been dreaming of. Visit our site to find a budget-friendly rental, learn more about hiking trails and even book your ATV adventure all in one place!
